For many decades, we have been a spring technology specialist in the area of rail transport. In 1989, the first ICE train of the German Railway was equipped with GRUEBER springs. Every day, over 180,000 train passengers enjoy the comfort and safety of our spring solutions. For locomotives, passenger cars, commuter trains, double-decker train cars, freight cars and multiple unit vehicles such as the ICE, we develop and manufacture primary and secondary springs.

In close cooperation with our railway customers, our designers develop safe, efficient solutions. The durability of our primary springs, for example, significantly reduces maintenance expense and effort as well as repair costs. GRUEBER secondary springs, or flexcoil springs, are specially designed for the high cross-loading of high-speed trains. Our contribution here is safely controlling the immense forces that occur at high speeds.

Building and vibration insulation

Safer building design
Seismic impacts, winds or human footsteps can trigger vibrations, causing high stresses on buildings and bridges, which can even result in their collapse. To reduce vibrations and to ease tension, we develop special compression springs, tension springs and HIFO springs for dependable vibration insulation. For example, in 2002 our solutions contributed to the reopening of the Millennium Bridge. It was previously closed due to the occurrence of strong vibrations. In many large buildings all over the world, GRUEBER springs perform valuable services.

Another product by GRUEBER used in buildings are springs for door closing technology. In very small spaces, they reliably withstand high stresses. Because doors are regularly opened and closed, we use well-designed spring geometries and high-quality CrSi wire for the longest service life.
